Japanese Designer Naoto Fukasawa designs Papilio Armchair for B&B Italia

The design for the Papilio (the Italian word for a type of butterfly) Armchair came about when Japanese Designer Naoto Fukasawa observed how people use chairs when relaxing. He realized that when relaxing, people tended to twist and turn instead of sitting up straight. Keeping these things in mind, Naoto spread and curved the back in a way that wraps around a person perfectly.
