While most artists are creating portraits of people by applying paint on canvas, political science graduate turned artist/photographer Alexa Meade has taken a totally different approach to it; creating portraits of people by applying paint on people. Yes, that’s right, on people. Alexa figured it was time to spice things up in the art world and she certainly did so by revolutionizing what we know of as the portrait painting/photograph. Her approach to portrait painting is simple, yet genius! She first creates three-dimensional paintings by literally painting the people and the clothes they’re wearing. She then takes photographs these real-life works-of-art turning them into two-dimensional portraits. Absolutely brilliant!
I’ll let you hear Alexa’s story yourself in the video below. Definitely worth watching, especially if you’re an art lover!
